Context

Thesis Project (2018)

This project proposes identity-laden places of learning which differ from Southern school models: they put forward Inuit’s relations to the land, as well as a formal expression which echoes their values.

As a complement to Inukjuak’s school, the project offers a network of interactive and practical workshops where elders and youth can exchange, share and learn while combining Inuit and Western practices and traditions, both inherited and contemporary. Tuniqtaviniit is composed of four thematic pavilions: the “Convening” is a meeting place focused on cooking and sharing; the “Explorer” offers workshops to discover and learn from the land; the “Creative” is a pavilion for artistic expression / exploration; and the “Nomad” is a practical workshop to transmit traditional building techniques.
